Day 1. Welcome to WeHo!
Welcome to LA! Once you’ve settled into your room at the Mondrian, head to Sky Bar, the hotel’s rooftop cocktail lounge, for your complimentary welcome cocktail.
Cosmo rec for dinner: Jones Hollywood
There’s no better place to kick off your ~very LA~ adventure than Jones Hollywood, a retro supper-club kinda place known for its old-school Italian vibe (complete with vintage red leather booths). While it’s not the type of spot that has black and white photos of old musicians on the walls, the low-key A-lister atmosphere will make you feel like one could walk in the door at any moment (which happens often, btw). As for food, it’s classic or bust here: Get the spaghetti and meatballs (truly *chef’s kiss*), and the apple pie for dessert (it’s served in a bubbling pool of caramel). Be sure to make a res in advance, as this spot fills up.
Check-in - Mondrian LA
There’s no better place to channel your inner Christine Quinn than the Mondrian LA, one of West Hollywood’s most glam and eclectic boutique hotels. Once you step foot through their signature 30-foot mahogany doors—wearing your most extra Christine-inspired shoes, of course—you’ll be greeted by all sorts of ~very LA~ vibes, from deep purple walls to a mushroom-inspired concierge desk (!) to an indoor swing.
The rooms are part of the design experience, too, with more fun and funky decor, but tbh, the rooftop pool deck (aka Sky Bar) is the star of the show. With its sparkly turquoise water, its chic white lounge chairs, and its panoramic views of the Los Angeles skyline, it’s just about as LA as it gets. The Sky Bar is especially magical at night, when the DJs and the candles come out and the downtown skyline lights up and the whole rooftop becomes a picture of Hollywood glam. If you get hungry, Sky Bar serves light bites in addition to its legendary cocktails, or you can pop down to your room for a bigger in-room dining menu.
Final #perk: The Mondrian is located in the literal heart of downtown LA (DTLA), so you can hop right into the scene. Hit up the many restaurants and attractions that line Sunset Strip during the day (don’t miss Fox Studios or Rodeo Drive), and then come home and take a nap in your comfy bed before getting ready for the night…starting with Sky Bar, of course.
Day 2. WeHo
Cosmo rec for breakfast: Earthbar
Are you even LA-ing if you don’t start your day with a green juice? As one of the original health cafés in LA, this spot—which opened back in 1971—was slinging ~wellness~ long before wellness was cool. It’s only a 10-minute walk from the Mondrian, so it’s super convenient for a quick a.m. outing, too. And since your next activity is a hike, you may want to grab a breakfast sandwich or a breakfast burrito as well—gotta fuel up!
Your plan: Hollywood Hike
“Have juice, will hike,” said most of LA, most mornings. Jump on that bandwagon yourself with this hike into the hills, led by your very own personal guide. Expect epic views of the Hollywood sign (!), not to mention Griffith Park Observatory, Lake Hollywood, Paramount Studios, and more. Bonus: Your guide will also fill you in on all of the celeb gossip.
Cosmo rec for lunch and an afternoon stroll: Sunset Plaza
There is perhaps no better meal than a post-hike lunch, and trust us: Sunset Plaza—LA’s finest outdoor shopping area—has alllll of the options (French, Mexican, and more). There are tons of cute bistros and outdoor sidewalk cafés to choose from, not to mention chic boutiques for some quintessentially LA shopping. Wherever you eat will be good, but Le Petit Four is always a good idea.
Cosmo rec for dinner: Pump Restaurant
After lunch and some shopping, you’ll likely want to head back to the hotel for a bit to a) chill and b) get ready for the night…because it WILL be a night. After all, Pump is owned by the one and only Lisa Vanderpump (and her husband, Ken Todd), aka it will be ~a vibe.~ For the ultimate A-lister experience, reserve the Mondrian’s personal chauffeur (!) to take you to dinner. Once you arrive, it’s all about the intimate, rustic vibe at Pump, with Mediterranean-inspired olive trees in the middle of the bar and sparkly chandeliers everywhere you look. If you really want to lean into the Vanderpump vibe, get the Lisa’s chopped salad or the grilled skirt steak with Lisa’s potato salad. Make a res before you go, too, as this A-lister spot is super popular.
Cosmo rec for a nightcap: Tom Tom Bar
The West Hollywood after-hours scene is definitely magical, and this is the best bar to experience it firsthand. Come for the dim lights and velvet couches, stay for the creative cocktails (or a glass of the Vanderpump wine if you want to keep the dinner vibe alive). Make a reservation before you go, too, as this spot gets crowded.
The Official Hollywood Sign Hike Experience
POV: you’ve wanted to see the famed Hollywood sign your entire life, and the opportunity is (finally) here.
On this star-studded sightseeing hike through the Hollywood Hills, you’ll have epic views of all sorts of local landmarks, including the Hollywood sign of course, but also a bird's eye view of Beverly Hills, Griffith Park Observatory, Century City, West Hollywood, the filming studios of Warner Bros. and Disney, and more. You can even see some of LA’s most popular filming spots that are featured in tons of big-screen classics (think Back to the Future and The Terminator).
Bonus: Your guide will also fill you in on some local history (plus lots of celeb gossip!) along the way.
Day 3. WeHo
Your plan: Secret Food Tour of Venice Beach
This two-and-a-half to three hour food tour starts at 11 am and it takes about an hour to Uber to the starting point from your hotel, so be sure to leave enough time to get there. For breakfast, you may want to grab a quick coffee or juice and just hit the road! Once you begin the tour, you’ll sample some of the best eats in Hollywood—and get a built-in walking tour of Venice while you’re at it. Everything is so good, but the cheeseburger and the exclusive CosmoTrips ~secret dish~ are especially exciting.
Cosmo rec for an afternoon stroll: Melrose Avenue
Since you’ll probably be very full at this point, now’s a great time for a lil stroll. And as one of the most iconic shopping streets in the country, Melrose Avenue is the perfect spot. This strip is famous for its plethora of cute boutiques and trendy thrift shops, so go ahead and shop ‘till you drop…probably too much cash.
Cosmo rec for dinner: Issima
You came for the scene, and this place delivers. Issima is a reliably good time, with European-inspired food (think local burrata and all of the house made pastas and pizzas), drinks named after popular European CosmoTrip destinations (get the Sicily and the Santorini), and a fun and colorful vibe (think orange couches, twinkly lights, and a giant disco ball). It's a popular place, so be sure to make a res ahead of time.
Secret Food Tour, Venice Beach
Prepare yourself for the ultimate foodie experience in the heart of Venice Beach, one of LA’s tastiest (and prettiest) neighborhoods.
You’ll start at Venice Fishing Pier with a sambazon açai bowl topped with hemp seeds, then hit the Venice canals for a secret, plant-based dish (yum). Next, you’ll sample an iconic, Cali-style cheeseburger near Muscle Beach, followed by what just may be the best crispy fish taco you’ll ever taste (along with quesabirria dipped in consomé). To top it all off, you’ll end on Venice Beach near Pacific Avenue with a refreshing, hand-dipped milkshake for dessert.
PS, this whole tour is seriously Instagrammable (not to mention delish), so be sure your phone is charged and you’re wearing something cute!
Day 4. WeHo
Cosmo rec for breakfast or brunch: The Butcher, The Baker, The Cappuccino Maker
This spot is one of the more popular cafes in Sunset Plaza, and for good reason: The food is as delicious as it is Instagrammable (they’re known for their colorful *painted* lattes). Located in a gorgeous indoor-outdoor space (so very LA!), BBCM is all about the all-day vibe, with a European-influenced menu that has everything from fresh baked goods to breakfast burritos and benedicts to cured meats and cheeses to tofu grain bowls.
Your plan: Poolside hang
After a perfectly LA meal at BBCM, it’s time to continue the live-like-a-local vibe and head back to the hotel to lounge on the complimentary poolside daybeds at Sky Bar. Be sure to order a poolside cocktail for the full La La Land experience. (In order to secure it for this particular afternoon, contact the Mondrian directly and reserve at least 14 days in advance of your arrival. Remember this is once per stay, per group, and based on availability!)
Cosmo rec for dinner: Craig’s
It could not get more classic LA than Craig’s. This tried-and-true hotspot is a go-to among the A-lister crowd, the kind of place where you’ll see both celebs and the Hollywood execs who negotiate their movie deals. They’ve got tons of good pizzas and pastas (the mac and cheese is legendary), plus lots of great vegan options, too. Fair warning, though: You can’t make online reservations. You have to either call ahead, or walk in at 5 pm right when they open.
WeHo
Day 5. Depart WeHo
Cosmo rec for breakfast: Dialog Café
Sure, you could return to Earthbar and make that health dose your morning thing (how very LA of you). But if you want to vary it up, Dialog Café—about a 14-minute walk from the Mondrian—is a solid option, too. They do have green juice, but they’ve got lots of other heartier things, too, like breakfast burritos, a grilled nutella banana croissant, and our favorite, the “wake n’ date” smoothie (lol).
After breakfast, it’s time to check out of your hotel and start making your way home. Until next time, LA!
