Charleston: The Foodie Edit
The Food Lover's Guide to Charleston
Charleston is known for many things, but tbh, its excellent eating and drinking scene just may top the list. The southern seaside city is basically *made* for imbibing, filled with so many incredible places to enjoy a supremely good meal, it can get overwhelming just thinking about planning your foodie adventures.
Enter: This trip.
We’re sending you to some of the most iconic restaurants and bars in Charleston, from low-key seafood joints to trendy wine bars to some of the area’s best spots for local Lowcountry cuisine. Your hotel, the Hilton Club Liberty Place Charleston, is also located within walking distance of King Street, the city’s famous shopping and ~imbibing~ area—meaning you’re right in the middle of all of the foodie action. And when you’re not eating and drinking at all of the best spots, there are tons of other fun Charleston things to do in your downtime, from enjoying magic hour on the harbor to strolling through Waterfront Park (shoutout to the pineapple fountain) to hitting up Charleston City Market.

Day 1. Welcome to Charleston!
Once you’ve checked in and explored the hotel, toast to the start of your trip with a complimentary Cosmopolitan. Did you seriously think we’d skip the opportunity to play this up?!
Cosmo rec for your first sunset post: The Rooftop at The Vendue Hotel
Begin your first night out in Charleston with happy hour at The Rooftop at The Vendue Hotel, a fun bar with panoramic city views. Not only will it be a great intro to the skyline, it’s also West-facing, meaning the light (and your resulting golden-hour pics) will be outstanding.
Cosmo rec for dinner: Pink Bellies
You can’t go wrong with a first dinner out at Pink Bellies. People love it for the IG-worthy decor alone, thanks to its neon lights, brightly-colored chairs and wall accents, and plants on plants on plants, but the food is incredibly delish, too. This spot actually started as a food truck serving up eclectic takes on Vietnamese fare, and eventually evolved into a full-blown brick-and-mortar restaurant based on its wild success. Get the garlic noodles (a crowd favorite), the sui cao dumplings, and/or the bun cha gio.

Don’t be afraid to be social – the Hilton Club Liberty Place Charleston is surrounded by a bunch of cool things to do! If you want to brush up on some history concerning the area, visit the Charleston Museum. If you’d like to get nautical, hop aboard the Fort Sumter Ferry and sail along the waters of South Carolina. And when your getaway comes to an end, you’re only 9.3 miles away from Charleston International Airport!
Day 2. Charleston
Get your day going with lunch at Basic Kitchen, which is…do not worry…anything but basic. The chef is all about fresh, local, seasonal produce and whole grains (there are definitely ~bowls~ on the menu), and the highly-curated decor is all very Charleston chill, with bright white walls, comfy leather booths, and lots of nods to the ocean hanging on the walls (i.e. surfboards, paddles, and framed vintage pics of old surfers). Located in a sunny, historic building with floor-to-ceiling windows and a plant and herb-filled courtyard, it’s the sort of place that makes you feel more peaceful and light just by entering its doors.
Cosmo rec for an afternoon activity: Bike around Charleston, then hit up King Street
Now’s the perfect time to wander around King Street, Charleston’s famous shopping area with tons of cute boutiques, restaurants and bars, art galleries, and antique shops. There are plenty of places to throw down some cash, but our editors especially love Hampden Beau & Ro., Madison Matthews, and Beckett Boutique for all of the fashion finds.
Your plan: VIP dinner at Darling Oyster Bar
This spot is already supremely Charleston, with delish and inventive cocktails (here for the spritz carlton ?), and a classy old-school saloon vibe (it’s set in a 115-year-old storefront). But you’re really here for all of the CosmoTrips #perks. The restaurant created an *exclusive* menu just for you (!), and there’s all sorts of complimentary swag as well. After all, did you even CosmoTrip if you didn’t pick up a new coozie along the way?
Set Menu 4-Course Dinner at The Darling Oyster Bar
Since opening its doors in 2015, the Darling Oyster Bar has become a bucket-list dining destination for Charleston visitors. Not only are the food and drinks delish, the setting is also a huge part of the appeal. The restaurant is located in a 115-year-old storefront that overlooks King Street, with exposed brick, large windows, seafoam green banquets, and ocean-inspired artwork on the walls—all of which create a classy and nautical saloon vibe.
But aside from the incredible restaurant itself, the *perks* that come with this VIP dinner seal the deal even more. When you and your crew walk in, you’ll be led to the best tables in the restaurant, and greeted with personalized CosmoTrips signs by your seats. You’ll then be welcomed with a custom off-menu drink—not to mention an entirely custom menu that the chef has carefully planned just for you. There will be four courses total: fresh, local raw oysters with a seasonal topping (all from the raw bar), followed by an appetizer, main course, and dessert. During your meal, the chef will also come out to welcome you and answer any questions you may have about the experience. And finally, in true editor style, you’ll get a ~swag bag~ when you leave, filled with all sorts of branded goodies from the restaurant, including The Darling hot sauce, matchbooks, stickers, a coozie, and a printout of the drink recipe so that you can recreate the magic at home.
Day 3. Depart Charleston
Cosmo rec for your goodbye breakfast: Charleston City Market
Womp womp, your time in Charleston has come to a close. Make the most of your last few hours with a quick stroll to the Charleston City Market for coffee and a bite (Callie’s hot little biscuits are not to be missed). After your final stroll, head back to the hotel to relax before you hit the road. (No shame if you want to order a final cocktail at the bar to make your travel day more fun.)
Until next time, Charleston!
