Austin: The Foodie Edit
The Imbiber’s Guide to ATX
Austin is known for many things, but tbh, the eating and drinking scene just may top the list. The capital of Texas is basically a hedonist’s mecca, filled with so many incredible places to imbibe, it can get overwhelming just thinking about planning your foodie adventures.
Enter: This trip.
We hooked you up with reservations at some of the most iconic restaurants and bars in Austin, from low-key taco joints to upscale farm-to-table spots to all of the wineries and breweries (live music’s often included, too). Your hotel, the Canopy by Hilton, is also conveniently located in the heart of the popular West 6th Market District—meaning you’re right in the middle of all of the foodie action downtown. And when you’re not eating and drinking at all of the best spots, there are approximately one million other cool Austin things to do in your downtime, from scoping the street art to taking a dip in a refreshing swimming hole to riding your bike around the famous Lady Bird Lake (your hotel even provides complimentary rental bikes).
TL;DR? Think of this itinerary as your guide to the best (and undoubtedly tastiest) of Austin. Cheers! 🍻

Day 1. Welcome to Austin!
Once you’ve settled into your room at the Canopy, kick off your trip with a refreshing, post-plane-ride dip in the hotel pool. As you may recall, you reserved your CosmoTrips exclusive perk - complimentary
poolside cabana from 2 to 6PM for either your arrival or departure day,
so be sure to call the hotel ahead or see the concierge upon checking in.
Settle down your bags and make yourself feel at home. Once you’re ready, it’s time to start off this CosmoTrip the right way. Head on over to the hotel bar for your complimentary Cosmo cocktail and cheers to a fantastic getaway in one of Texas’ most esteemed cities.
Cosmo rec for an afternoon activity: Sixth Street
Depending on your arrival and cabana times, you might have a couple free hours before dinner. Chilling at the hotel is always an option, but if you want to hit the ground running (slash get some fresh air after your morning on the plane), take a stroll through Austin’s downtown area, which is a) right outside your hotel door and b) filled with lots of cool local street art and cute cafes and shops.
Cosmo rec for dinner: Eberly
Ask any local Austin foodie for recs, and there’s a high chance Eberly will be at the top of their list. Known for its upscale tavern cuisine, the restaurant is especially good at dinner, with highlights including homemade pasta, Japanese milk rolls, fresh wild striped bass, and beef tartare, not to mention all of the delish desserts (the rhubarb summer pudding and the lemongrass crème brûlee are musts). But it’s not just about the food here; Eberly’s creative atmosphere is part of the appeal, too. Located in a former print shop, the restaurant refers to itself as a “thinking space” in addition to an eating space, with lots of cozy couch areas that are perfect for deep convos.
Check-in - Canopy by Hilton Austin Downtown
Located in the heart of the popular West 6th Market District, this chic 140-room hotel is the perfect homebase for your time in Austin.
For starters, Canopy by Hilton is Hilton’s younger and more modern lifestyle brand, so your stay will definitely have a cool boutique feel. All Canopys by Hilton are intentionally located in fun neighborhoods and designed with an emphasis on natural light and neutral tones—and this one is no exception. The modern rooms are not only airy and bright, they also have everything you need to get ready for the day and unwind at night, from free high-speed Wi-Fi to a good flatscreen TV to sleek wooden furniture to solid air conditioning (a must during Austin summers).
The food situation is on point here, too. The hotel puts out free coffee and freshly-baked pastries in the lobby each morning, and the on-site restaurant and bar, The Verbena, serves delicious Mediterranean and American fusion dishes with a focus on local ingredients. With tables both inside and outside in a lush, plant-filled courtyard, The Verbena’s vibe is very rustic-meets-industrial chic (think cozy wooden tables, sleek black accents, and all of the Edison bulbs). Bonus: CosmoTrips guests get daily breakfast or brunch $20 credit per person and a complimentary glass of wine or cocktail at The Verbena, so don’t sleep on those #perks!
Last but certainly not least, there’s also a nice gym and a sweet, made-for-IG pool with bright orange lounge chairs and sunset views for days. Bonus: CosmoTrips Groups receive an afternoon poolside cabana reserved from 4-6. The hotel also lets you borrow their complimentary bikes, so you can go for a ride through the many nearby parks and trails (we recommend heading straight to Lady Bird Lake, Austin’s #1 nature hangout spot).
Day 2. Austin
Your plan: CosmoTrips exclusive perk - extra breakfast or brunch at Verbena Restaurant
Breakfast at the Verbena Restaurant is delicious, and you can enjoy the restaurant’s open-air, plant-filled courtyard. It’s so cute!
Cosmo rec for a morning activity: Walking or biking around
Your first paid activity is either at 11 AM or 3 PM today – if it's the latter, then you have some options re: what to do. First, if you didn’t get the chance to check out Austin’s famous street art scene yesterday, now is the perfect time to do so. The city’s known for its colorful murals by talented local artists, many of which you may have seen on IG (the “I love you so much” mural on the wall outside of Jo’s coffee is especially popular).
Another option: Take one of the complimentary bikes from your hotel for a spin around Lady Bird Lake. Known by locals as “the living room of ATX,” this urban trail is one of Austin’s most beloved hangout spots…yet somehow, despite its popularity, it almost never feels crowded. Be on the lookout for some cute wildlife along the way, too, from sunbathing turtles to singing parakeets to chirping squirrels. You might even spot some bats hanging beneath the Congress Avenue Bridge! (And if you do, promise us that you’ll try to come back later in the evening, when you will see literally *hundreds* more of them.)
Your plan: Secret Food Tour
Tex-Mex lovers, this one’s for you. This very ~filling~ activity takes you to some of ATX’s best off-the-beaten-path spots (including the best breakfast taco joint), and lasts for about three hours.
Cosmo rec for a nightcap: White Horse
Now that you’re absolutely stuffed from all of that delicious food, it’s time to chill with a cocktail and some music—which is why we *highly recommend* hitting up the White Horse. This is the spot for nightly live country music and hole-in-the-wall honky tonk vibes, complete with swing dancing and two-stepping if you’re down. (The bar even offers free dance lessons if you’re so inclined; just check their schedule for availability.)
Secret Food Tour, Austin
This three-hour guided food tour will dish out the very best eats in downtown Austin, topped with a *secret* bite that’ll satisfy all the cravings. You’ll taste everything from Central Texas pit-style BBQ brisket to Shanghai pork soup dumplings to breakfast tacos, and you’ll also get to explore the city’s landmarks along the way (the Warehouse District, the historic buildings of Congress Ave, the locations where Austin City Limits is filmed, and more). Perfection.
Day 3. Austin
Your plan: Hotel breakfast + spin class at RIDE Downtown
Ready for your spin class at the RIDE Downtown, one of Austin’s top indoor cycling studios that just happens to be minutes from your hotel? While the whole class will get you energized, we’re particularly obsessed with the music sitch, as RIDE is known for playing amazing music. (Remember: ATX is known as the live music capital of the world.)
Your plan: Wanderlust Wines Tour
Let’s start here: This is the largest self-pour, wine-on-tap winery in the world. In addition to that crazy fact, this experience also comes with your own personal wine sommelier to help you choose all the best ones while you’re there (and teach you a lil’ thing or two about vino along the way). The tour does not have a set time and can last however long as you want, so plan accordingly. Wanderlust Wines also has a few locations throughout Austin, all of which are included here—so feel free to try whichever one you want!
Cosmo rec for a fun last-night dinner: Easy Tiger
Are you a little bit wine drunk now? Yes, yes you are. That’s why Easy Tiger—an outdoor beer garden and bakery heavy on the twinkly lights—is the perfect spot to plop down for the rest of the evening. They’ve got lots of picnic tables and shareable bites, including a grazing board and a sausage board, that are perfect for low-key chilling. Live music is often on tap here, too.
RIDE Spin Class, Austin
Let’s make fun workouts a thing, shall we? Renowned for being Austin’s first boutique spin studio, RIDE in downtown Austin hosts spin classes with let’s-get-pumped-up type of music and eclectic vibes that’ll power you and your crew to ride it out and sweat for 45 minutes. TBH, working out on vacay never felt this good, and we’re here for it.
Wanderlust Wines
Self-pour concept? Tell us more. Wanderlust Wine Co.—the largest self-pour, wine-on-tap winery in downtown and east Austin—allows you to literally be your own sommelier and pour glasses of vino as you please. With 56+ self-pour taps (!), you can choose from a rotating list of white, orange, rosé, red, and sparkling wines (our personal fave), along with sangrias, ciders, wine-based cocktails, and more.
As part of your CosmoTrip, you’ll get three glasses of wine from the Sommelier's selection of the week: one white, one rosé and one red, as well as a colorful wine-based gelatin shot. Bonus: The eclectic-meets-cultural art and decor, games, food trucks, live music, and shows bring all the feel-good vibes, making it easy for guests to spend a bajillion hours here. We. Love. Austin. Cheers!
Day 4. Depart Austin
Cosmo rec for cute café vibes: Bouldin Creek Café
Breakfast is included with your CosmoTrips, so if you want to stick to coffee at The Verbena, that is super legit. But if you feel like venturing out in the morning, Austin’s café scene is on point. One great spot is Bouldin Creek Café, which is technically vegetarian but has such delish and filling breakfasts, you won’t even miss the meat. Fair warning, it is a bit of a walk from the hotel—about 45 minutes—but you can bike or Uber there, too. Must orders: the lavender mocha, the vegan blueberry cornbread, and “the Renedict,” a breakfast sandwich filled with tofu bacon, over-medium eggs or a tofu scramble, local spinach and tomato, scallions, and vegan hollandaise sauce on an open-faced ciabatta.
After breakfast, head back to the hotel for a quick dip in the hotel pool (and potentially a cabana hang if you didn’t get to do it on your first day) before heading to the airport. Even if you do have a long flight ahead of you, we’re hoping that that solid breakfast + pool combo will get you through the rest of your travel day ahead. Until next time!
